A shooting in the Rocky Fork Lake region on Monday evening left two men dead in what is likely a murder-suicide event.

According to Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera, the shooting occurred on Muskie Drive, off North Shore Drive.

“It appears to be a murder-suicide,” Barrera confirmed Monday night.

Emergency responders received a call around 6:30 p.m. Monday. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office and Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District personnel responded to the scene.

Barrera said later that deputies had arrived at the scene and found a male outside of the home on the porch with an apparent gunshot wound, later identified as Tony Brown, 54. Deputies then found Tyler Faulkner, 26, also with an apparent gunshot wound, inside the home.

The Highland County Coroner was called to the scene, where both males were pronounced as deceased.

Barrera said that the Highland County Sheriff’s SRT Team, detectives and BCI&I were also called to the scene.

Barrera earlier told The Times-Gazette that a female was also in the residence when the shooting occurred, but “she got out safely.”

Responders were reportedly evacuating dogs from the home before making entrance.

Scanner traffic related that some responders initially called to the scene were called off once it became apparent that two were dead and the shooting had ceased.

The incident remains under investigation.
