A Hillsboro woman appeared on a bench warrant in the Hillsboro Municipal Court on Monday and saw a previous furlough revoked.
The Times-Gazette previously reported that Monica Midkiff, 36, pled no contest and was found guilty of first-degree misdemeanor contributing to the unruliness of a minor.
When Midkiff was in court last month, Hillsboro Municipal Court Judge David H. McKenna reviewed the facts reported with her case, which alleged that she and a co-defendant failed to report that their 16-year-old daughter had broken her house arrest from the juvenile court.
The juvenile was reportedly later arrested for alleged “shoplifting at the Family Dollar store and running from (the Hillsboro police),” according to an affidavit.
Half of Midkiff’s 180-day jail sentence was suspended. She could be furloughed to inpatient treatment.
On June 15 Midkiff was “furloughed from jail to be transported by a family member to Recovery Ministries” in Illinois, according to records. If she left counseling, she was to report to the probation department immediately, records add.
Records further show that, on July 8, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On Monday, Midkiff appeared on that warrant. Her past furlough was revoked. A 77-day jail sentence began on July 10, according to records.
In other cases, two defendants previously found guilty of probation violations had jail sentences imposed.
Austin Hilterbran, 20, Hillsboro, is serving a 39-day jail sentence. Records show that he pled guilty to first-degree misdemeanor underage consumption last July. All but 10 days of a 90-day jail sentence were suspended. He was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
He was later found guilty of a probation violation in March after he pled guilty to first-degree misdemeanor theft. Forty-four days of Hilterbran’s previously suspended sentence were imposed at that time. He could be furloughed with a negative drug screen.
On Monday, Hilterbran appeared on those remaining 39 days. That time was imposed, records show.
An 18-day jail sentence began on Monday for Paul Chapman, 25, Mount Orab. Records show that he was found guilty of fourth-degree misdemeanor unauthorized use of property in 2010.
Records add that a warrant was issued for his arrest in 2011. He later appeared on that warrant the following year, at which time a 30-day jail sentence was imposed. He was later furloughed, according to records.
Records add that two other warrants have since been issued for Chapman’s arrest. On Monday, the remaining 18 days of his previous sentence were imposed, records show. His probation on a conviction for driving on a suspension was also extended for an additional two years.
Finally, two bench warrants were issued after defendants failed to appear for review hearings.
A $5,000 bench warrant was issued for Nicholas Ray, 36, Georgetown. Records show that he was convicted of operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), a first-degree misdemeanor, in 2006. Multiple warrants have been issued since his conviction, records add.
A $2,000 bench warrant was issued for George Baker, 45, Greenfield. He was convicted of theft in January, records show.
