An Adams County man appearing on a bench warrant in the Hillsboro Municipal Court on Monday was sentenced to 177 days in jail.
According to records, Kevin McPherson, 45, Seaman, pled guilty in 2012 to first-degree misdemeanor operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) and an unclassified misdemeanor driving on a suspension.
All but three days of a 180-day jail sentence were suspended. McPherson was placed on reporting probation and fined $500. His license was suspended for three years.
This past October, McPherson was found guilty of a probation violation, and a 177-day jail sentence was set for March, according to records. In December, an affidavit was filed by the probation department, and a $7,500 bench warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to comply.
McPherson appeared on that warrant Monday, and the jail sentence from October was imposed. It began on Friday. He can be furloughed to inpatient treatment, records added.
Also found guilty of a probation violation was Katherine Page, 18, Hillsboro.
The Times-Gazette previously reported that a probation violation hearing was set after Page appeared on a warrant last month.
Hillsboro Municipal Court Judge David H. McKenna said then that the warrant was issued after the court received information that Page was not complying with a no contact order.
Page previously entered an agreement and pled guilty to second-degree misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments. A 90-day jail sentence was suspended.
When Page was last in court on July 31, it was noted that she could be placed on electronic monitoring house arrest if she passed a drug screen. If not, her bond would be set at $5,000.
On Monday, she was found guilty of a probation violation and the previously suspended 90 days in jail were imposed. Those began on July 30 which, according to jail records, was when Page was taken into custody.
Court records add that Page can be furloughed into the custody of relatives to “remain with them in their home while attending school.” She must return to court in November.
Also on Monday, Benjamin Howard, 37, Greenfield, pled guilty to first-degree misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments, according to records.
All but 30 days of a 90-day jail sentence were suspended. He can be furloughed on Thursday. Howard must return to court in November. He was placed on reporting probation. A $750 fine was suspended. Howard must stay away from Rite Aid and obtain counseling at FRS. He must observe a curfew until conditions are met. His license was suspended for one year.
In other cases, a drug screen will determine the bond for Amber Norris, 31, Hillsboro.
The Times-Gazette previously reported that Norris pled guilty to child endangerment earlier this year. She was charged after the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance and later reportedly found multiple drug-related items in the home.
Half of a 180-day jail sentence was suspended, and Norris was placed on reporting probation. She was also ordered to obtain counseling.
Records show that a warrant was issued for Norris’ arrest last week after an affidavit was filed by the probation department.
She appeared on that warrant Monday. If Norris passes a drug screen, she can be released on her own recognizance (OR). If not, her bond will be set at $3,000.
A $2,000 bond was set for Michael Stafford, 28, Columbus. According to records, he is charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft and fourth-degree misdemeanor trespassing.
If Stafford posts his bond, he is ordered to have no contact with Walmart and to observe a curfew. He is also prohibited from driving, records add. A pretrial is set for next month.
