Greenfield man’s bond revoked

Violating house arrest got a Greenfield man’s bond revoked on Thursday in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

John David Ralston, 47, is charged in a July indictment with first-degree felony heroin possession, fifth-degree felony possession of methamphetamine, and three counts of receiving stolen property, one fourth- and two fifth-degree felonies.

Ralston has been under pretrial supervision since his arraignment on July 15 on the charges. Included in that supervision is house arrest.

Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins filed a motion to revoke bond based on Ralston’s violation of that house arrest, according to the motion filed with the court in August.

A statement of facts filed with the Highland County Court in Greenfield on July 29 states that Ralston was charged with OVI, driving under suspension, a safety belt violation, failure to control, and hit-skip following a single-vehicle crash on July 22.

Probation officer Toyia Watson testified that Ralston did not contact her in regard to his leaving his home, something that a defendant under house arrest is required to do.

Ultimately, Ralston’s own recognizance bond was revoked and a new bond was set at $10,000. He is also to have electronic monitoring house arrest. According to court records, he posted the new bond on Thursday.

Ralston is scheduled to face a jury in October on the charges levied in the July indictment.

In other hearings, Argentina Ray Hill, 45, Hillsboro, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Hill, who has a prior felony record, was ordered to serve 18 months in prison.

Jesse Lee Edwards II, 24, Martinsville, was sentenced to three years community control for one count of fifth-degree felony heroin possession.

He pled guilty to the charge in July.

Jacob R. Wright, 29, was granted judicial release to the STAR program in a video hearing from the London Correctional Institution.

Wright was sentenced to prison a year and a half ago after pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession and illegal assembly charges.
