SSCC Theatre holding auditions

The Southern State Community College Theatre has announced upcoming auditions for the spring production of “The Great Gatsby.”

Open to community members and students, auditions will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Southern State Community College Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the stage in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, and in Simon Levy’s adaptation approved by the Fitzgerald Estate.

Those interested in auditioning should prepare and memorize a dramatic one- to two-minute monologue. Those interested in working available crew positions will be asked to complete an interview the night of auditions. If you’re interested in auditioning, but unavailable to attend the audition date, contact Rainee Angles ([email protected]) to schedule an alternate audition date prior to Jan. 15.

“The Great Gatsby,” directed by Angles, will be performed April 1-3. For more information about available roles and a rehearsal schedule, visit www.sscctheatre.com.
