The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs had already clinched the Southern Hills Athletic Conference heading into Thursday night, but as they faced off against the North Adams Lady Green Devils they were striving for something even more; perfection.
Sitting at 12-0 so far in their league play schedule, the Lady Mustangs headed to North Adams for their final SHAC game of the season. The Lady Green Devils made it no easy feat for the Lynchburg girls, but they fought hard and capped off a perfect league season defeating North Adams with a 71-61 victory.
Both teams were neck-in-neck for a majority of the game with the Lady Mustangs able to jump out to some hefty leads a couple times throughout. They were able to take a 51-38 lead into the fourth quarter and just had to hold back North Adams off for another eight minutes to reach perfection and the gold ball.
In the fourth and final quarter, the Lady Devils pushed hard and actually outscored the Lady Mustangs 23-20, but it was too little to late as the Lady Mustangs’ defense was enough to get the 71-61 win and a 13-0 SHAC record.
