Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of March 7-13 Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 296 911 calls, answered 159 requests for service, dispatched 115 fire and EMS runs, took 27 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

At 11:49 p.m. on March 8, a resident on Rocklick Road called the sherif’s office to report a suspicious vehicle parked in a neighbor’s driveway. The vehicle was also witnessed driving slowly back and forth on the roadway. A deputy responded to patrol the area, but the vehicle had already left the scene.

A resident on Highland Hilts Drive called the sheriff ‘s office at 9:48 p.m. on March 12 to report several suspects running from a neighbor’s house carrying stolen items. The caller’s husband gave chase on foot and was able to give an accurate description of the suspects. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and began a thorough search of the area. A male suspect was located nearby and taken into custody. Additional investigation is pending and additional charges are likely.

A business owner in the 12000 block of SR 138 called the sheriff’s office at 12:03 p.m. on March 13 to report a breaking and entering and theft. A deputy responded to the scene to collect evidence and take an offense report.

At 7:42 p.m. on March 13 a deputy was dispatched to the 7000 block of Mad River Road to investigate a domestic disturbance complaint. The caller advised dispatchers that a male subject was at the residence arguing with a female and refusing to leave. A deputy arrived on scene and after interviewing the parties involved it was determined the confrontation was all verbal and no charges were filed.
