Lady ‘Cats slip by Dragons 6-5

The Whiteoak Lady ‘Cats softball team picked up their first Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Tuesday night as they defeated West Union 6-5.

The West Union Lady Dragons got out to an early lead being the visiting team and having the first at-bat, by scoring one run.

Whiteoak answered quickly and in a big way in their half of the first by scoring four times and almost making it through their entire batting order.

The Lady Dragons scored one run in each of the second and third innings to pull back to within one, and then in the top of the fifth, they scored twice more to go up by one with the score 5-4 in favor of West Union.

The Lady ‘Cats were able to muster up another good inning and answered in their half of the fifth inning with two runs of their own to make it 6-5.

Whiteoak was unable to add anymore to that lead, but pitching and defense were able to keep the Lady Dragons at bay and the score stayed 6-5 and the Lady ‘Cats picked up their first SHAC win.

Leading the Lady ‘Cats at the plate was Ashleigh Harless going a perfect 3-for-3, walking once and crossing the plate once. Courtney Gross went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored once, Jaycie Parr was 1-for-2 and scored twice, Lexi Jones was 1-for-4, Hayley Nace was 1-for-3, with one run and an RBI, Chelsea Chisman was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Megan Dodds collected two RBI’s.

The Lady ‘Cats wll hit the road on Thursday to travel to Eastern Brown for another SHAC game. It is set to start at 5 p.m.
