On April 30, the village of Lynchburg observed Arbor Day by planting a new tree by the Morrow-Bobbitt Cemetery. The Royal Raindrops Crabapple tree was donated to the village by Mayor Terry Burden. The new tree was a welcome burst of color for the historic cemetery.
On May 7, Lynchburg had its seventh annual Clean Up Day. The village also provided a dumpster for large item disposal.
“We are happy to announce that this year we filled the dumpster to the brim,” the village said in a news release.
Numerous people brought large items to get rid of and several residents volunteered to help to clean up with other neighbors who needed assistance.
“A huge thank you goes out to the 16 volunteers who walked throughout the village picking up litter,” the news release said. “The Mason’s made big improvements to the cemetery by removing overgrown shrubbery. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Widman for their assistance and to Judy Davis for covering a really large area. Thank you to Boy Scout Troop 120 for providing a lot of help for the clean up event. The garbage bags were donated by the Lynchburg Lions Club.
