Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of May 16-22, the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 280 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 118 fire and EMS runs, took 29 offense reports and investigated seven traffic crashes.

On May 17 at 9:21 a.m. the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft from a in the 8000 block of SR 124. Employees arriving to work discovered a pop mac been broken into overnight. Two male suspects driving a dark colored SUV were observed prying the machine open then fleeing the scene eastbound on SR 124. The Hillsboro Police Department also handled three similar cases the same day. Evidence from all four locations is currently being processed and the incidents remain under investigation.

At 3:40 p.m. on May 20 a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Sunshine Drive when the owner returned home and discovered a burglary had taken place. Several items were taken including jewelry and video games. Several witnesses were interviewed and an offense report was taken.

The sheriff’s office received several 911 calls from a residence on Beatty Road in the morning on May 21. Callers reported a domestic dispute between several family members. Deputies were immediately dispatched to investigate. A male juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility 0n two counts of domestic violence.

On May 22 nd at 5:35 p.m. a deputy responded to a residence on Prouty Drive in LibertyTownship to investigate an ongoing neighbor dispute. Both parties were interviewed and the genesis of the problem and possible solutions were discussed. No charges were filed.
