Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 13-19, the Highland County Sheriffs Office received 275 911 calls, answered 166 requests for service, dispatched 154 fire and EMS runs, took 42 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

On June 14 at 10:01 p.m. a deputy was dispatched t investigate a criminal damaging complaint. The complainant returned home to find a rock had been used to smash a car window and the contents of a purse were poured all over the front seat. Nothing of value was taken.

At 1:12 a.m. on June 18 the sheriff’s office received a call of an active domestic disturbance at a residence on Blaine Street in Madison Township. A second call was received three minutes later from the male victim who reported being hit several times with a mug and a broom stick. A deputy responded to the scene where Ash C. Short of Greenfield was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence.

A resident of the 6000 block of SR 124 called the sheriff’s office at 3:16 a.m. on June 19 after chasing a prowler away from his home. The caller advised the suspect was seen walking east on SR 124 wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt. A deputy responded to the scene where a report was taken. The area was thoroughly patrolled but no suspect was located.

On June 13 and again on June 18, employees of a business in the 14000 block U.S. Route 50 discovered someone had broken in and stolen several items. A deputy is currently investigating both incidents.
