The Hillsboro Legion Post 129 failed to get past Waverly on Wednesday night, losing the game with a final score of 11-2.

Waverly took an early lead in the first scoring a single run but Hillsboro answered back in their half of the same inning with a run of their own. Post 129 took the lead in the second inning with another run, which would turn out to be their last of the game.

Waverly tied the game at two runs each in the third inning and things were quiet on both sides until the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, Waverly was able to bring across three runs and added six more to that total in the sixth inning bringing their total to 11 runs in the game.

Free bases was a plague for the Hillsboro pitching staff on Wednesday night as they gave up 11 walks in the seven innings and hit one batter.

Jacob Burns and Trey Meade were the lone two scorers for Post 129 in the game. Christian Inman collected two hits at the plate for Post 129 while Latrell Haithcock and Jonah Humphries each had one hit.

The Hillsboro Legion team will be back in action in their final home game before tournament time on Thursday, July 14 with the game starting at 6 p.m.
