DNC 2016: Statistics on DNC viewership, cost of security

PHILADELPHIA — Here is some statistical information about the Democratic National Convention from throughout the event:

• 24.7 million viewers on average have tuned into the Democratic National Convention, according to Variety Magazine. That compares to 19.75 million viewers on average of the Republican National Convention held last week in Cleveland.

• 20,000 members of the media have been credentialed to cover the DNC, according to Morgan Finkelstein of the convention media relations staff. There are 50,000 people attending the DNC — delegates, guests, visitors — and 6,100 law enforcement personnel.

• $43 million federal dollars have been allocated to cover all costs for security for the DNC.
