Students from all of the Highland County middle schools were recently given an opportunity to design a poster with the theme We All Need Trees.
The posters were created on paper grocery bags donated by the Hillsboro Kroger. The top three poster winners from each school received a SWCD cinch bag donated by the Highland Soil and Water Conservation District. Each of the top school posters were then judged for the overall top four county poster winners, which will receive cash awards during the Highland SWCD Annual Meeting on Oct. 13 at the Highland County Training & Employment Center (Hi-Tec) in Hillsboro.
The county poster cash awards are sponsored by the Highland County Farm Bureau.
The 2016 county conservation poster contest winners are: first place, Jocelyn Ward from Lynchburg-Clay; second place, Tommie Watts from Greenfield; third place, Aleah Sheppard from Bright Local; and fourth place, Olivia Bellamy from Fairfield.
