The Greenfield-McClain Lady Tigers suffered a loss to the Lady Shermans at Unioto Tuesday night, bringing their record to 1-1.

The Lady Shermans thwarted McClain in every quarter, and despite a mighty effort in the last few minutes of gameplay, Unioto took the win with a final score of 53-48, bringing the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 record on their second game night in a row.

McClain started the game with a 7-point gain to Unioto’s 10, then in the second quarter gained 9 points to Unioto’s 13.

By the half, the total score was 23-16 with the Lady Shermans in the lead.

The Lady Tigers continued to struggle with gains in the third quarter, allowing Unioto 12 points while scoring only 6 for themselves, bringing the score to 35-22 with Unioto maintaining their lead.

McClain unleashed the beast and turned things around in the fourth quarter with a whopping 26-point gain to the Lady Shermans’ 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to make up for Unioto’s gains from the first three quarters.

The game ended with Unioto on top 53-48.

Coach Jarrod Haines was disappointed in the loss, but appreciated his team’s effort in the final quarter.

“I was very pleased with our effort in the second half,” Haines said. “That’s all I can ask.”
