The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

Dec. 2

ACCIDENTS

Jana Donley, 45, Hillsboro, reported that while traveling northwest on Belfast Pike she struck a deer that ran into the path of her vehicle causing minor damage to the 2008 Jeep. Donley was not injured.

The police department responded to a call of an accident on the Fifth Third parking lot at 511 N. High St. Ralph Vance, 82, was back from a sparking space when he failed to see a vehicle behind his vehicle driven Michael Huff, of Hillsboro, whose vehicle was stationary in the parking lot. Vance’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of Huff’s vehicle causing non-functional damage to both vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Dec. 3

INCIDENT

Police officers responded to a disturbance at 304 E. Walnut St. Upon officer arrival, Shane C. Johnston, 40, of Chillicothe, was found to be under the influence of narcotics and was breaking items in the residence, including running his own head through a bedroom window. While officers were at the scene Johnston attempted to grab a female residing at the home and had to be restrained. Johnston resisted arrest. Deputies from the Highland County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist. Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Highland County Justice Center, where several officers were needed to restrain him. Johnston is set to appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court for arraignment on criminal damaging and resisting arrest charges, as well as an outstanding bench warrant issued to Clinton County.

ACCIDENT

The police department was called to investigate a traffic crash in the 100 block of South High Street. Bobby Smith, 72, of Hillsboro, was northbound and in an effort to turn right onto Main Street he attempted to squeeze between northbound traffic and parked vehicles. Smith’s vehicle struck an unoccupied vehicle owned by Pauletta Augustin of Hillsboro. Both vehicles received minor damage. Smith was cited for failure to maintain control.

Dec. 4

ACCIDENT

The police department responded to a call of a crash at the intersection of E. Main and Bell streets. Anna Kerr, 56, of Hillsboro, was traveling westbound when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Iris Shannon, 83, of Bainbridge, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Main Street from Bell Street. Minor damage was reported to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. Shannon was cited for failure to yield.
