Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of January 16th to January 22nd 2017, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 242 911 calls, answered 140 requests for service, dispatched 115 fire and EMS runs, took 40 offense reports and investigated 2 traffic crashes.

At 12:02 p.m. on January 16th a Heathermoore Trail resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report a breaking and entering. Someone entered the complainant’s unlocked garage and stole several thousand dollars worth of power tools. A deputy took an offense report and the incident remains under investigation.

A Penn Township business owner called the Sheriff’s Office at 1:14 p.m. on January 17th to report a theft from his property sometime overnight. During the investigation, the location of the stolen property was discovered and charges have been filed on two suspects.

On January 19th at 11:15 a.m. a business owner in Kibler Road called the Sheriff’s Office to report a stolen vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to the scene where an offense report was taken and evidence collected. The incident remains under investigation.

A deputy was dispatched to Sycamore Street in Lynchburg at 2:34 a.m. on January 20th to investigate a criminal damaging complaint. The victim called the Sheriff’s Office after discovering the windows had been busted out of her vehicle. An offense report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.
