Hillsboro Police Department reports

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

Jan. 17, 2017

INCIDENTS:

At approximately 5:54 a.m., HPD responded to the Hillsboro City Schools Bus Garage for a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival officers located a red Chevrolet truck that had a small fire behind the front bumper. Officers used fire extinguishers to suppress the fire until the Paint Creek Fire Department arrived on scene and put the fire out. The vehicle was a total loss to the front engine compartment.

At approximately 5:08 p.m., police responded to N. West Street and W. Beech Street for a report of a three-car crash. Upon investigation, Nicole Hauke of Hillsboro was traveling northbound on N. West Street and stopped at the intersection of W. Beech Street. Sherry Ballein of Hillsboro was stopped on W. Beech Street and initiated a left hand turn on to N. West Street while Dorsey Bingham III of New Vienna was stopped in southbound lane on N. West Street at W. Beech Street. Hauke failed to see Ballein and proceeded through the intersection and struck Ballein, causing Ballein to strike Bingham. Hauke was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Jan. 19, 2017

INCIDENTS:

At 11:46 a.m., police responded to Arby’s parking lot for a vehicle that hit the building. Investigation showed Christopher Wright of Hillsboro was turning into a parking spot when he suffered a medical condition and was unable to apply the brakes. Mr. Wright did not stop and struck the north side of the building next to an entry door. There was minor damage to both the structure and the vehicle.

Jan. 20, 2017

INCIDENTS:

At approximately 4:12 p.m., police responded to E. Pleasant Street and S. East Street for a report of a two-car crash with minor injuries. Investigation showed a juvenile of Hillsboro being stopped at the stop sign on E. Pleasant Street while Kimberly Burris of Hillsboro was traveling southbound on S. East Street. The juvenile failed to see Burris and proceeded to travel across S. East Street striking Burris head on. The juvenile was issued a citation for failure to yield at a stop sign.

Jan. 21, 2017

INCIDENTS:

At approximately 8:23 p.m. police responded to Wal-Mart for a theft report with a juvenile detained. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the juvenile who was identified and his mother was contacted to pick him up. The total loss of merchandise was $29.16, all of which was recovered with no damage except for a Mt. Dew which was half gone. The juvenile was released to his mother and charges have been sent to the prosecutor for review.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS:

Cynthia Belcher, 34, Williamsburg, was cited for driving under suspension

Lura Cox, 45, Columbus, was arrested for illegal processing of drug documents
