Members from the McClain FFA Chapter competed in the subdistrict public speaking contest held at Fairfield High School on Feb. 8. The competition included Beginning Creed Speaking, Advanced Creed Speaking, Beginning Prepared, Advanced Prepared, and Extemporaneous. All of these allow the members to better their ability to confidently and effectively communicate their thoughts. The McClain FFA chapter had students competing in four of the five divisions. Natalie Rolfe, the representative for Beginning Creed Speaking, placed third. James Looney, the representative for Beginning Prepared, placed first. Cindy Smith, the representative for Advanced Prepared, placed first. Madison Schumacher, the representative for Extemporaneous, placed first. Each of these members qualified to move on to the District competition. The chapter is very proud of the accomplishments of these students and wishes the best of luck to them at their upcoming contests.
