The McClain Tigers wrestling team recently took seventh place in the annual Washington Court House Invitational, according to McClain wrestling coach Shane Paul.

The champion team was Fremont Ross, the host Washington Blue Lions were the runners up, and Cincinnati’s Winton Woods grabbed the third place team trophy.

McClain finished in seventh place in the 13-team field.

Keegan Rawlins (138) lead the way for the Tigers with a 3-1 record on the day, finishing second to Logan Ball of Cambridge in a tough 9-8 decision in the finals. Ball is the all-time wins leader in Cambridge school history, and a former state qualifier.

“Keegan got his 100th career victory in the semifinals with a major decision 14-2 over Romeo Gabriel of Hamilton Township,” Paul said. “Keegan avenged a loss he had to Gabriel last year.”

Dawson Immel (120) became the third MHS wrestler to reach the 30-win mark on the season by going 2-3 on the day and finishing in sixth place. Immel is now 31-12 for the season. Quinton Smith (113) finished in fourth place with a 1-2 mark on the day. Phil Waters (152) went 2-1 and finished in third place, pinning Anthony Porter of Cambridge in the consolation finals match. Ethan Taylor (182) and Kai Borrelli (220) both went 2-2 on the day and finished in fourth place. Matthew Milnes (126) and Samantha Immel (160) both went 0-2 in the double elimination tournament.

Up next for the Tigers is the SCOL Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Hillsboro High School. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.
