The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned a slot in the district semifinal Saturday after galloping over the West Union Dragons 82-30 at Valley High School.
The Lynchburg ladies took a 13-point lead in the first quarter, finishing the period at 23-10. Hannah Binkley led scoring for the Mustangs with a 3-pointer, a 2-pointer and 5 out of 6 freethrows.
The second quarter saw Lynchburg-Clay tripled West Union’s score in the second quarter, wrapping up the half ahead by 29 points at 47-18. Hannah Binkley again led scoring for Lynchburg in the second quarter with two twos and a three.
The Lady Mustangs outscored the Dragons by 13 points in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 42 points at 67-25 for the period. Hannah and McKayla Binkley each scored a 2-pointer and a three to lead scoring for the Mustangs.
Peyton Scott led scoring for Lynchburg in the final period with a 2-pointer and one from the freethrow line. The Lady Mustangs scored 15 points and kept West Union at just 5 for the quarter, finishing the game with a 52-point win and a chance to cut the net.
The Lady Mustangs will advance to the Division III district semifinals at Waverly High School on Feb. 27.

McClain ladies end tournament run
The McClain Lady Tigers finished their tournament run with a loss to the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers in the Division II sectional championship on Saturday at Adena High School with a final score of 32-36.
