For the second year in a row, the Hillsboro Indians varsity bowling team won sectionals last Friday, according to coach Shane Ison.

“The boys bowled awesome,” Ison said. “It was fun watching them bowl.”

The Indians had team games of 987, 1047 and 1046. They took a 249 pin lead going into the Baker round, then came out firing with 214, 216, 232, 215, 155 and 175 to win by 347 pins.

The Indians were led by senior Tyler King with a 741 series, with games of 265, 272, and 204. King also finished first out of a possible 96 kids.

“He was on fire,” Ison said.

Senior Hunter Lowe was second with a 658 series and games of 227, 237, and 194.

“Hunter bowled great all day,” Ison said. “It was just what the doctor ordered: He showcased his talent that we all knew was there.”

Freshman Hayden Miller was third with a 607 series and games of 199, 203, and 205.

“Hayden practiced extra this week to be ready for the big show,” Ison said.

Senior Sajoun Jones was fourth with a 593 series and games of 175, 197, and 221.

“Sajoun battled for the first game and a half, made some equipment adjustments, then the strike parade began,” said Ison.

In fifth, it was a struggle for sophomores Christian McConeahea and Brendon Ormes. Their first two games were 121 and 138, then they finally got it figured out, shooting a 222 game three.

Sophomore Ty Alexander went into the last Baker game and had two marks in the only two frames he got to bowl.

Sophomore Andrew Louderback was unable to play due to the flu, and left early with his parents.

The Indians will battle for a state bid this Friday at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe starting at 11 a.m.

“If you can come and support us, it would be greatly appreciated,” Ison said. “Great bowling boys! I’m very proud of all of you. Now let’s go get us a district title and send our seniors out in style.”
