A single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 50 early Tuesday morning caused traffic delays and cut power to a local preschool after a driver went off the road and snapped a power line pole, according to Paint Creek Joint Fire/EMS District Public Information Officer Branden Jackman.

Hills and Dales Preschool, a Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities facility, had to cancel classes Tuesday morning because the crash caused a power outage, Jackman said.

Paint Creek responded to the crash around around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jackman told The Times-Gazette.

Upon arrival, responders found the vehicle entangled in the guide wires for the pole with a female driver still inside. The power lines required extra caution during the rescue procedure.

Rescuers had to stabilize the vehicle before they could remove the driver, who was then transported to Highland District Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Jackman said.
