Whiteoak boys end tourney run

The Whiteoak Wildcats boys team ended their tournament season Wednesday night in a sectional semifinal matchup against the South Webster Jeeps at Northwest High School.

The first quarter saw the Jeeps roll out to a 7-point lead at 21-14 for the quarter.

Whiteoak kept their opponent at 9 points in the second, scoring 8 points for themselves for a halftime score of 30-22 with the Wildcats down by 8.

Whiteoak made 8 points again in the third quarter, but South Webster found some life in their scoring with a 14-point gain for the period.

The Jeeps secured the win in the fourth quarter with a 13-point gain against Whiteoak’s 9 points, finishing the game with final score of 57-39 and a shot at the Division IV Sectional Championship.

“The kids played hard and I’m proud of them,” said Whiteoak head coach Jeremy McGraw. “It’s definitely not how we wanted to end our season. I want to wish our three seniors, Shawn Wissel, Carter Stolz and Derrick Ison the best of luck.”
