We are down to the home stretch with our summer reading program, “Build a Better World.” We still have great programs and activities for kids as well as an abundance of wonderful books to add to your reading logs.
The ASL Play Group continues to meet every Thursday in July at 10:30 a.m. This group is for children who are 6-18 months old. Following the play group, we will have a signing class at 11a.m. for preschoolers from 2-5 years old. Both groups will be facilitated by Molly Jordan.
There will be no story times in July and August. In lieu of story times, we will be presenting special summer reading theme-related programs for kids of all ages each week. The programs in July include our drive-in movie. Join us for some cartoon fun with popcorn and drinks on Tuesday, July 11 at 11 a.m.
On Tuesday, July 18 we are hosting a life-sized Candyland game. Come and play along with us and get prizes and treats from the Candyland characters. Our final program for our younger summer readers will be on Tuesday, July 25 at 11 a.m. Reading Rocks! will feature, music, dancing, contests and treats.
We will have two Makerspace Days for our fifth through eighth graders on Wednesday, July 19 and July 26. Kids can create from recycled or discarded items using the engineering design process. This is a hands-on activity facilitated by Tonia McLanahan.
The last day for kids and teens to turn in their reading logs is Monday, July 31. Get the prizes you have earned and make sure you have your entry in for the Adena Healthy Kids bike drawing. This is also the last day for adults to submit their entries for the adult summer reading prize drawings.
The library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Please use our outdoor bookdrop to return items.
We look forward to seeing you during the month of July for one of our programs or to beat the heat. We have some great summer reads on our shelves so come on in and check them out.
