Touchpoint yard/bake sale

Touchpoint Pentacostal is hosting its annual church yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the corner of South West Street and Park Avenue in Hillsboro. A bake sale and cookout will be offered both days. Proceeds are for relocation and property. Donations can be dropped off on the church porch both days of the sale.

SATH Cutie Pie, Cutie Pet Contests

The SATH Cutie Pie and Cutie Pet Contests will be held Sept. 2-9 at the Highland County Fair. Cutie Pie contestants can be boys or girls ages 1 day to 6 years and there are three age categories. The is a just one category for Cutie Pets. To enter a Cutie Pie or Cutie Pet, submit a photograph of your child or pet along with a $2 registration fee to: Cutie Pie Contest, P.O. Box 608, Lynchburg, Ohio 45142. Include the child’s name, birth date, address and phone number with the entry. You can also bring your photo and register at the Cutie Pie Booth in the Wharton Building during the fair. Photos no larger than 4 inches by 6 inches should be submitted. The Cutie Pet contestant’s name, owner’s name, address and phone number must be attached with the photo. Each contestant’s picture will be on display at the fair. Donations of a penny a vote will be appreciated.

Holiness Church sale and meal

The Danville Pike Holiness Church, 115 E. Josie Ave., Hillsboro, will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a./m. to 4 p.m. and will serve beans and cornbread from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.

Lynchburg Lions breakfast

The Lynchburg Lions Club will have its monthly all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Lynchburg Lions Club/Gun Club Building on Sharpsville Road in Lynchburg. It will feature pancakes and sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits and other items. The public is invited to support the meal that supports the Lions Club’s community service projects.

No immunization clinic

The Highland County Health Department will not have an immunization clinic on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

Care-A-Van not running

The Highland County Health Department will not run as regularly scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Instead, services will be provided from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the health department offices at 1487 N. High St., Suite 400, Hillsboro. For more information call the health department at 937-393-1941.

Adena Greenfield blood drive

An American Red Cross blood drive sponsored by Adena Greenfield Medical Center will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District, 640 N. Honoring segregation opponents

The New Hope Baptist Church will be presenting plaques on Sunday, Sept. 10 to Mary Hackney, Joyce Clemons Kittrell, Phillip Patridge and the Marching Mothers for fighting to end segregation in Hillsboro from 1954 to 1956. Because of their efforts children of every race, color, religion and creed are able to recceive a quality education. The church invites the community to fellowship with it at its Old Fashion Day by wearing jeans or anything old to church. The morning service starts at 11 a.m. with the presentation of plaques around 12:30 p.m. There will be a dinner and games for the kids.

Indian Discount Cards

Students in the eighth grade at Hillsboro Middle School will be selling Indian Discount Cards to raise funds for their annual Washington, D.C. trip. Cards may be purchased from an student in the eighth grade or at the middle school office during the school day. The cards are $10 each and include discounts from many local businesses.

Bell Gardens elder exploitation

Help The Hungry Outreach

New Life Church and Ministries in Hillsboro will give away more than 70,000 pounds of food when it hosts its annual Help The Hungry Outreach at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at its campus at 6101 SR 247 Hillsboro. Gates will open at 10 a.m. Music, concessions and a message of hope will be provided by evangelist C.J. Gary. Everyone is invited.

Highland County Farm Tour

The fourth annual Highland County Farm Tour is scheduled to be held Saaturday, Sept. 16 in the Greenfield area beginning at 10 a.m. at the Madison Township Building. The event is hosted by Highland County Farm Bureau and the Highland Soil & Water Conservation District. Tours stops include a session on drones in agriculture, Sims Family Golf Center and a cover crop plot at Unger Farms. Lunch will be provided during the tour. Preregistration is required by calling the Highland SWCD at 937-393-1922 ext. 3 by Sept. 11.

Log Cabin Cookout

The Highland County Historical Society will host its Log Cabin Cookout at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 on the back lawn at the Highland House Museum. The menu will be ham and beans, cornbread, applesauce, coleslaw, dessert and drinks. Reservation can be made by calling 937-393-3392 by Monday, Sept. 11. Leave your name, phone number and the number of reservations requested. Donations will be accepted at the door to help with utilities and routine maintenance costs of the Highland House and Scott House.

Bell Gardens hog roast

Bell Gardens Place, 251 Harry Sauner Rd., Hillsboro, will hold a hog roast from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. There will be live music, raffle prizes and games for all ages. A pulled pork sandwich will be $3; a meal of a sandwich, coleslaw, basked beans and dessert will be $5; and meals to go will be an additional 50 cents. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Madison Township rezoning

A public meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Madison Township Building on Centerfield Road. The topic of discussion is the rezoning of a property owned by Highland County Community Action at 12714 N. Fifth St., Greenfield.
