There are a number of area residents among the past Sale of Champions winners that Ohio State Fair officials are inviting as honored guests to attend the 50th Sale of Champions Livestock Auction on Sunday, Aug. 6.
The sellers of Ohio State Fair grand champions and reserve grand champions receive two free tickets to the final day of the 2017 state fair, which is Aug. 6.
Members of the Chuck and Patti Flint family are going to the anniversary celebration because Brad Flint, a son of Chuck and Patti, sold the grand champion market barrow at the 1990 state fair. He was 10 at the time.
Brad now lives in Leesburg in Highland County, is married to Dee and has three children. He does lineman work.
Brad Flint was a member of the Sabina Blue Ribbon 4-H Club. His grand champion state fair entry was a Hamp-Duroc cross barrow that won over all the breeds at the 1990 Ohio State Fair Market Barrow Show.
McKenzie Cardinal Super Market of Columbus bought Flint’s barrow for $11,100. In a group photograph from the 1990 Sale of Champions Livestock Auction, then-Ohio Governor Richard F. “Dick” Celeste joined Brad in the sales ring after the bidding was done.
