Highland County travel report

For the week ending Aug. 19, the following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system in Highland County. Operations for a resurfacing project on U.S. Route 62 (High Street) in the city of Hillsboro have begun. The project extends from the southern corporation limit near Dunlap Road to the northern corporation limit at Diamond Drive. Throughout construction, paving work will be conducted during the evening and overnight hours, and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. The project is anticipated to be completed by late summer.

Operations for a bridge replacement project on Lewis Lane are underway. The project site is situated east of Selph Road, near the end of the roadway, and throughout construction traffic will be maintained on temporary pavement and by flaggers as needed. All work is scheduled to be completed in mid to late fall.

State route 28 has been closed in the community of East Monroe for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located between Barger Road and Martinsburg Road, approximately 2.5 miles east of Leesburg. The closure will be in effect for up to 150 days, and throughout construction motorists will be detoured via SR 771 and SR 138. All work is anticipated to be complete in late fall.

Operations for a resurfacing project on SR 28 and SR 135 are underway. Crews will be paving SR 28 from the west corporation limit of Greenfield to the Ross County line, as well as SR 135 between its junction with U.S. Route 50 at Allensburg and SR 134 at Lynchburg. During paving operations, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers.

State route 135 has been reopened at the village of Lynchburg following a bridge replacement between Texas Street and Glenavy Drive. Contractors will have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic.

A paving project has begun on SR 28, from the Leesburg corporation limit to the western corporation of Greenfield and is nearing completion. Crews have minor finishing work to complete in the village of Greenfield; however, traffic impacts should be minimal. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer.
