The Hillsboro High School Indians golf team opened their season on August 8 when they took part in the McClain Invitational at the Buckeye Hills Country Club. The Indians have already competed in four matches on the year. The Indians golf team will wrap up their season on September 16 in the Frontier Athletic Conference tournament.
The team consists of eight boys and is coached by third year head coach Nathan Boatman.
Boatman showed that he is excited for the season when he said, “We are hungry and we want to do better. The boys really enjoy the game. We have the spark to drive ourselves and compete. It makes me really excited for the season.”
“Every year our goal is to win the league. Then move on to sectionals and districts. We want to have fun and score well throughout the season.”, said Boatman.
The team is young with only one junior on the team and no seniors. Boatman made a point to say how much he is looking forward to coaching the underclassmen. “I’m pretty excited to coach this young group of kids. I look forward to establishing a bond with them throughout the season and watching them learn and grow.”
