The Highland County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday declared Friday, Sept. 15 POW/MIA Recognition Day. Local veterans and volunteers were on hand for the proclamation, which honors prisoners of war and those reported missing in action during conflicts around the world. Steph Roland, president of Support our Troops of Highland County, said POW/MIA recognition ceremonies will be held Sept. 15 at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in front of the Highland County Court House.
