One transported to hospital after rollover wreck south of Hillsboro

A two-vehicle accident on SR 247 south of Hillsboro on Tuesday afternoon sent a 17-year-old to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to trooper Tyler Holcomb with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, preliminary investigation indicates a juvenile, who an eyewitness identified as a North Adams High School student, was driving a black Volkswagen hatchback southbound on 247, and drove left of center, striking a northbound gold Toyota sedan, driven by Hollis Stevenson, 70, with two passengers. The Volkswagen then flipped end over end before coming to rest about 40 yards away in a yard on the opposite side of the road, officials said. None of the three people in the Toyota were injured, and the juvenile was the only occupant of the Volkswagen, according to Holcomb. The juvenile was transported via ambulance to Highland District Hospital. The matter remains under investigation.
