The Times-Gazette and Hillsboro Uptown Business Association will team up once again on trick or treat night, Thursday, Oct. 25, to offer a haunted house in The Times-Gazette offices at 108 Gov. Trimble Place, Hillsboro.

Just acoss the street, WSRW will host its annual Boo-Fest from 5-7 p.m. on the Highland County Courthouse square. John Barney, sales manager for I-Heart radio’s operations in Hillsboro, Chillicothe and Washington Court House, said the event will include a costume contest, several businesses, churches and other organizations passing out candy, and adults can register for a chance to win two tickets to concerts, events and destinations for one year.

The haunted house, open from 5-8 p.m. at The Times-Gazette offices, is organized mostly by Ann Morris and her family, friends and staff at Twenty Four Exchange in Hillsboro. She said it’s a bit spooky, but not deathly scary, describing it as a place to get “a gentle fright.” She said Lowe’s donated several props for the haunted house.

The haunted house is manned mostly by teenagers.

“We do it because we feel like we want to give something free back to the community so everyone has something to enhance and help them enjoy their trick or treat experience,” Morris said.

Candy will passed out at the haunted house as well.

Trick or treat will be observed countywide from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
