A Hillsboro man is facing numerous charges after allegedly breaking into a Cincinnati area bank Tuesday and then fighting with officers who found him there.

Christopher Magee, 41, was charged with felony charges of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and breaking and entering, plus misdemeanor charges of assaulting a police dog, horse or handicapped assistance dog, and resisting arrest, according to an incident report provided by the Union Township Police Department.

At 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 23, Union Township police officers were dispatched to the Park National Bank at 4550 Eastgate Blvd. after receiving an intrusion alarm. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed the front door of the bank with broken glass, and were confronted inside the bank by a lone male suspect armed with a utility knife, a new release from the police department said.

A police canine was utilized to subdue the suspect, identified as Magee, who fought with officers and was bit by the canine, according to the news release.

The release says Magee was transported to Clermont Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident report says a victim was seriously injured during Magee’s arrest, but a spokesperson with the police department said Wednesday that no further information could be released.

Magee has a municipal court date at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 and is being held in the Clermont County Jail without bond, according to online records.

Fox 19 News reported that Union Township Police Lt. Anthony Rees said when officers arrived at the bank, they saw Magee at the bank teller window, and then he fled to the bank’s basement area.

At that point Magee pulled a utility knife on an officer in a stairwell, a K9 was deployed, it bit Magee on the arm, and officers were able to subdue him, Fox 19 reported.

The news report said it did not appear that Magee got into anything, and police are trying to figure out why he broke into the bank.
