Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 279 911 calls, answered 120 requests for service, dispatched 135 fire and EMS runs, took 15 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

On Oct. 29 at 12:40 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 8000 block of U.S. Route 62 to investigate a residential alarm drop. The premises were checked and everything was found to be secure.

A citizen called the sheriff’s office at 4:38 p.m. on Oct. 30 to report the theft of hunting equipment from the 2000 block of Groom Lane. A deputy spoke to the complainant and an offense report was taken.

The sheriff’s office received several calls of gunshots fired on Larrick Road at 12:38 a.m. on Nov. 1. Deputies, dispatched to the area to investigate, interviewed several citizens who heard the shots. The incident remains under investigation.

A deputy was dispatched to a Panhandle Road residence at 9:21 p.m. on Nov. 4 after receiving a report of a domestic dispute in progress. Both parties involved were interviewed and the male half decided to leave for the remainder of the evening. No charges were filed.
