


A single-car crash on U.S. Route 50 Saturday morning claimed the life of a Rocky Fork Lake area woman and sent three passengers to the hospital via medical helicopter.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Wilmington Post spokesman Sgt. Matt Beccaccio, Debbie A. Damron, 55, of Wagon Wheel Trail in the Rocky Fork Lake area, was driving eastbound at 7:40 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 50 about a quarter mile east of Carper Lane when her vehicle went left of center, driving off the roadway and over an embankment.
Beccaccio told The Times-Gazette that the the vehicle, a 2009 Pontiac Vibe hatchback, struck a group of trees and burst into flames shortly after impact.
Damron was pronounced deceased at the scene, the patrolman said.
The crash report stated that Damron was trapped in the vehicle, but three passengers were able to escape and were later airlifted to hospitals in Dayton and Kettering.
The passengers in the Damron car were Jordan Lee Lewis, 22, 5396 U.S. 50, Hillsboro; Joshua Lee Arnold, 29, 318 Sixth St., Manchester, and Angela Denise McCane, 41, 6 Ashwood Place, Amelia.
A spokesman for Miami Valley Hospital described the passengers’ condition as “serious.”
Beccaccio said the accident remains under investigation.
