Greenfield CCCU revival
The Greenfield Church of Christ in Christian Union, 503 N. McClain Ave., will have a revival Sept. 19-22 with evangelist Tim Case the Carter Sisters as singers. The services will be at 7 p.m. nightly except Sunday, Sept. 22 when they will be at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Church teaming with artist guild
The First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro, 201 E. Main St., and Appalachian Artist Guild will host an afternoon of arts and crafts for the while family from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. There will be a bouncy house, a wide variety of displays and demonstrations, hands-on activities and a bake sale. There is no admission charge. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
Hope House Family Fun Day
Hope House in Sinking Spring will hold an old-fashioned Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. The event is free to all. There will be games for all ages plus prizes and free food.
Holiday Trails Homeowners
The Holiday Trails Homeowners Association will have its annual one-hour meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the shelter house. Those attending should bring a photo ID and chair. The same day there will be a community flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy and beverages from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Log Cabin Cookout
The Highland County Historical Society will hold its annual Log Cabin Cookout Saturday, Sept. 21 on the back lawn at the Highland House Museum starting at 5 p.m. The menu will be ham and bean soup, coneys, cole slaw, cornbread, cake and drinks. There will be an auction starting at 6 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 937-393-3392 or Jean Fawley at 937-393-3081 or 937-763-2657 by Sept. 16.
Fruitdale Chicken Noodle Supper
The Fruitdale United Methodist Church is having its annual Chicken Noodle Supper from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the church located five miles south of Greenfield on SR 41 and the corner of Moxley Road. This is our fundraiser to help pay for a church addition. The menu consists of homemade noodles/chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, choice of homemade desserts, and choice of tea, coffee or pop. All are welcome to come support the church. A freewill donation will be accepted.
New Hope Men and Women’s Day
The New Hope Baptist Church, 128 E. Beech St., Hillsboro, will hold a Men and Women’s Day on Sunday, Sept. 22. The guest speakers will be Sister Annette McDaniel at 11 a.m. from the Union Baptist Church in Urbancrest and at 3 p.m. the Rev. Richard E. McDaniel and congregation from the Union Baptist Church in Urbancrest. Everyone is welcome.
First Presby Sunday Dinner
The First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield will serve dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 in the church dining room. The menu will be beef brisket, roasted potatoes, baked beans, green beans or corn, fruit salad, rolls, a variety of pies and cakes, and drinks. Carry-out will be available. The cost of the meal is a suggested donation of $8. Children 12 and under are free.
Chambers Open House Hog Roast
Lowell Chambers and Rusty Fite invite the public to attend their annual Open House/Hog Roast at 216 N. High St., Hillsboro, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27. They will be serving pulled pork, hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, potato salad, baked beans and beverages and cookies. Chambers-Fite Realty has sponsored this annual event for more than 20 years.
OVRDC Full Commission
The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission’s (OVRDC) Annual Full Commission Meeting will be held Friday, Sept. 27 at the Rocky Fork Lake East End Overlook, 6452 Lucas Lane. Registration will be held at 10:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow at noon. OVRDC Full Commission members have received registration information and anyone planning to attend must RSVP by Monday, Sept. 23. The banquet and meeting are open to the public. Highland Block Party
The Highland United Methodist Church will hold a community block party in the parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 28 from noon to 3 p.m. Rain rain date Oct. 5. Sean Poole will have the music. There will be games and food. Bring a covered dish to share. Hot dogs and pop will be furnished. Bring a lawn chair. Everyone is welcome.
