Mr. and Mrs. Harvey (Olive Holbrook) Hoagland will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Oct. 24, 2019. They were married on Oct. 24, 1959 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. Lester Harbold.
Harvey is a 1954 graduate of Lynchburg High School and Olive is a 1957 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
Harvey served in the USMC from 1954-57. At the time of their marriage, Harvey worked at Candle-Lite in Leesburg and Olive at Tom’s Studio in Hillsboro. In 1960, Harvey went to work at the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus in the digital computing center, retiring in January 1995 as business manager of the information systems department after more than 34 years. They moved from Hillsboro to Columbus in 1961 and currently live near Grove City. Olive joined BancOhio National Bank in 1979 (it later became National City Bank). Olive retired in February of 2000 as executive assistant to the president/chairman/CEO after more than 21 years at the bank.
They have two children, Pamela Neff of Grove City and Michael Hoagland of Parkersburg, W. Va. They have a granddaughter, Miranda, currently serving in the U.S. Army.
They are members of the Grove City Church of the Nazarene and have served in various capacities for many years. Harvey has gone on mission trips to construct/repair churches/college housing from St. Croix to South Korea/Hong Kong as well as Puerto Rico, Ohio, Florida and New Mexico.
Since retiring, they have traveled in their RV in many of the states as well as eastern Canada’s New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Only Alaska remains on their bucket list.
