Santa Claus is coming to RFL

The Rocky Fork Community Alliance (RFCA) is hosting its fifth annual “Christmas at the Lake: An Afternoon with Santa,” on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 2-4 p.m., RFCA President Diane Uhl told The Times-Gazette.

Children and their families will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa both individually and as a group. Any pictures taken during the event will be posted in an album on RFCA’s Facebook page. Uhl said pictures can also be emailed if requested.

The RFCA will be serving hot chocolate and cookies, and children will receive treat bags.

The event, including any pictures taken, is free, Uhl said, though she said donations are appreciated. Donation jars will be available during the event.

”It’s an opportunity for kids, who may otherwise not get to, to come see Santa,” Uhl said. “It’s a way for us to give back to the community.”

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District will deliver Santa to the Rocky Fork Lake State Park Activity Center at 2 p.m., Uhl said.

Uhl said the activity center is located next to North Beach.

“If you’re coming off North Shore Drive heading toward the North Beach, as you come into the parking lot, the activity center is a little building on the right in the woods,” Uhl said.

Uhl said the RFCA is still looking for volunteers to help decorate the activity center before the event. Those interested in helping should message the “Rocky Fork Community Alliance” Facebook page. The RFCA will start decorating at 9 a.m. on Dec. 14.
