Following a one-vehicle rollover crash on SR 73 Friday afternoon, Hillsboro police detoured traffic while emergency responders from Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District secured the accident scene.

The wreck happened shortly after 5 p.m. Friday during a light drizzle on N. West St. (SR 73) near Harry Sauner Rd. in Hillsboro.

Police detoured northbound motorists onto Pea Ridge Rd. while southbound traffic was re-routed onto Harry Sauner Rd.

According to HPD, a juvenile who was behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger pick-up truck made a left turn from Harry Sauner Rd. onto southbound N. West St. The juvenile overcorrected on the slick roadway and overturned the vehicle.

When police arrived, both the driver and a juvenile passenger had exited the truck. They told police they weren’t injured.

Police said both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
