The Larry A. Hart Memorial Scholarship Committee announced they recently determined the recipient for 2022.
Samuel Buddelmeyer was selected from several excellent candidates. Samuel is the son of Joel Buddelmeyer of Hillsboro, Ohio and Amy Buddelmeyer of Leesburg, Ohio. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 2019. Samuel attended Wright State University before transferring to Hocking College where he is majoring in Wildlife Resource Management. While in high school and college, Samuel enjoyed playing on the baseball teams. He was named to the National Society of Leadership and Success his first semester at Hocking.
Among his many activities for the outdoors include hunting, fishing, trapping, golfing and sports. Memberships include National Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. During the summer months of 2021, Samuel was employed at the ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft at Rocky Fork and Paint Creek Lakes. This summer, he will be found working for the ODNR Division of Wildlife at the Fallsville and Indian Creek Wildlife Areas as a Seasonal Natural Resources Technician. His long-term goal is to obtain a permanent position in wildlife conservation.
The Larry A. Hart Memorial Scholarship is a One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) scholarship that is sponsored by the Ohio Wildlife Officers Lodge #146 of the Fraternal Order of Police, and The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club in Preble County. The scholarship is available to those persons who are graduating or have graduated from an accredited high school, and will enroll, or are enrolled in an accredited college majoring in Law Enforcement or Natural Resources Studies. This scholarship was established in memory of Wildlife Officer Larry A. Hart. At the time of his death, Larry Hart was a thirty-year veteran of the Ohio Department of Wildlife. Those in the professions of Wildlife Management and Law Enforcement recognize his integrity and his commitment to service and conservation.
