A Hillsboro woman was at fault in a fatal accident that claimed the life of an Aberdeen woman Sunday in Brown County, according to the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Ford Edge, operated by Alana J. Faulconer, 35, of Hillsboro, was traveling westbound on Greenbush East Road approaching U.S. Route 68 at 7:15 p.m., along with a male juvenile passenger. Faulconer failed to yield from a stop sign while attempting to cross U.S. Route 68 and was struck by a southbound vehicle, the state patrol said.
The southbound vehicle was a 2021 Honda CRV operated by Benjamin Prather, 37, of Aberdeen. His vehicle was also occupied by Kayla Prather, 35, of Aberdeen, along with a female juvenile passenger.
Kayla Prather was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Brown County Coroner.
Benjamin Prather was transported by emergency personnel to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. His juvenile passenger was transported by UC Air Care to UC Medical Center with serious injuries.
Alana J. Falconer was transported by Mount Orab emergency personnel to Mount Orab Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. Her juvenile passenger was transported by Williamsburg emergency personnel to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Seat belts were in use by both drivers, according to the state patrol.
The crash remains under investigation by the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
