Primary election candidates listed

The Highland County Board of Elections released the candidates and issues that will appear on the May 2 Highland County Primary/Special Election ballot.

Herbert Day will run as a Republican for mayor Hillsboro against incumbent Charles “Justin” Harsha, also a Republican.

Dawson Barreras will run as a Republican for Hillsboro City Auditor against recently-appointed Republican auditor Patty Day.

Randalyn Worley, a Republican, will appear on the ballot unopposed for Hillsboro law director.

Kathryn Hapner, a Republican, will run for judge of Hillsboro Municipal Court against the current judge William Randolph, a Republican who was appointed to file the unexpired term of David McKenna.

Three issues were filed for the ballot.

A local option for precinct 78 (Paint Southwest) was included for Beechwood Pizza to allow Sunday sales of alcohol.

The village of Greenfield has proposed an ordinance for a gas aggregation program to reduce natural gas utility prices.

The city of Hillsboro has proposed an ordinance to participate in an aggregation program to reduce electricity prices.
