A Hillsboro man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from officers during a short chase Tuesday afternoon.
The Hillsboro Police Department said that at 4:50 p.m. on officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1100 block of North West Street. The vehicle did not stop as directed by a law enforcement signal and continued to travel southbound on North West Street. The pursuit ended in the 300 block of North West Street where Derek Bebout, 29, was arrested for fleeing and eluding and speeding, according to the police department.
Bebout was later transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
He appeared Wednesday morning in Hillsboro Municipal Court on charges of failure to comply, a first-degree misdemeanor, and speeding.
A pretrial for Bebout was scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, April 6. He was released on an OR bond.
