Meth charges land man in prison

A Mount Sterling man sentenced to 24 months in prison on a trafficking charge was among four people sentenced recently in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Gavin Faulconer, 22, was sentenced to 24 months on an amended count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony. Faulconer was also given 14 days of jail-time credit.

According to court documents, around Aug. 4, 2022, Faulconer sold or offered to sell meth.

In other sentencings, Robert Hawkins III, 31, Washington C.H., was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of aggravated possession of meth.

Hawkins was required to successfully complete Star treatment plan and aftercare. If he violates any of the community control sanctions, he would be given a sentence of between six and 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of $2,500.

According to court documents, on April 16, 2022, the Washington C.H. Police Department reported to dispatch at the Greenfield Police Department that a vehicle had been stolen in Washington C.H. by Hawkins. The vehicle was described as a 1999 Ford station wagon that also had a large purple flower sticker on the back window. A patrol officer found that vehicle parked and occupied at a fast-food restaurant in Greenfield.

A separate patrol officer responded to the location and activated the overhead lights on their patrol vehicle. The driver’s door then opened and Hawkins exited the vehicle with his hands in the air. One officer then secured Hawkins with the other patrol officer securing the passenger. While the first patrol officer was searching Hawkins, the officer found a cellophane baggie that contained an off-white powdery substance in Hawkins’ hoodie pouch

The patrol officer put Hawkins into the back of a patrol vehicle and advised him of his Miranda Rights. Hawkins said he had permission to use the vehicle and was supposed to return it but didn’t do so.

Dispatch contacted the Washington C.H. Police Department to advise that the vehicle had been found.

Hawkins was taken to the Greenfield Police Department. The substance on his person was then submitted to BCI and was found to contain meth.

Danielle Dennewitz, 34, Chillicothe, was sentenced to three years of community control on one count of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, a third-degree felony.

Court records stated that Dennewitz must successfully complete the TRC treatment plan for Substance Use Disorder and aftercare. If she violates any of the community control sanctions, she would be given a sentence of between nine and 36 months.

According to court documents, around Sept. 4, 2022, Dennewitz and Jeremiah Johnson, a previously-convicted co-defendant, conveyed or attempted to convey meth into the Greenfield Jail.

Aaron Hunt, 40, Greenfield, was sentenced to three years of community on one count of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

Court records stated that Hunt must successfully comply with a treatment plan at the Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center. His driver’s license was to be suspended for three years beginning Sept. 18, 2023.

If Hunt violates any of the community control sanctions, he would be given a sentence of between nine and 36 months and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000.

According to court documents, around Jan. 15, 2023, Hunt operated a motor vehicle and willfully eluded or fled a police officer after he received a visible or audible signal from a police officer to stop the vehicle.
