June Baker Rhude, of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 at age 95.

Born in Hillsboro, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ethan and Pauline Ferguson Baker, the the wife of the late Joseph Irvin Rhude.

Married to Joseph in 1946, they lived in Hillsboro, Ohio and raised four sons. In the years she worked outside the home to help make ends meet and was a homemaker, installing a spotless is the only way to do it attitude that helped form a great work ethic in in four boys. She had a great eye for decorating and owned her own antique shop early on. She loved to garden, taking great care of her geraniums.

When Joseph retired they loved to travel in their RV all over the United States, later splitting their years between Ohio and Florida before moving to South Carolina full time. She loved animals, both watching hummingbirds at her feeder, the deer in her yard and especially her many dachshunds. She was a wonderful cook, loved baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds, reading, anything sweet to satisfy her sweet tooth, and was fiercely loyal and proud of her husband, her sons, and the families they created.

June is survived by three sons, Jeff Rhude and wife Viki Rhude of Hillsboro, Ohio, Jay Rhude and wife the late Donna Rhude of Greer, South Carolina and Jody Rhude and wife Lisa Rhude of Alpharetta, Georgia; a sister, Joy Bbaker Lamb; seven grandchildren, Julie, Joey, Natalie, Stephanie, Ashley, Lindsay and Killian; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a dachshund.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Rhude; and a brother, George Baker.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
