A Tuesday morning fire on Webertown Road destroyed a two-story residence.

Lynchburg Area Joint Fire and Ambulance District Chief Jeff Turner said his district was dispatched to 918 Webertown Road at 9:16 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from both the front and the back of the structure.

It took five fire departments about two hours extinguish the blaze, Turner said.

The home was owned by Jim and Angela Mootz, according to Turner. He said one occupant was home at the time of the fire but they were about to get out with any injuries.

Turner said he would like to thank The Paint Creek Joint Fire/EMS District and fire departments from Fayetteville, Martinsville and Sardinia for providing mutual aid.

Turner said the home was a total loss.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
