Frank Everhart, 86, of Greenfield, died peacefully at home Friday morning, Oct. 27, 2023.

He was born on Monday, Sept. 7, 1937, at home in Ross County, the son of the late Emil and Helen McNeal Everhart.

Frank grew up in the farming community near Humboldt with his three brothers and four sisters. He attended Bainbridge schools. Later he went to work on his brother Dewey’s farm. He then moved to Greenfield where he became skilled as a chauffeur, cook, groundskeeper and a self-taught mechanic. As a result of his skills as a mechanic, engines and motors became his life trade. He excelled at this, working in many garages and shops in the Greenfield and surrounding areas. His hobbies were engines, tractors and later in life he had a passion for hit and miss engines. Frank had many of those engines and they were in all sizes. When he wasn’t tinkering around on his engines, Frank was an avid gardener. He led a good and honest life and was a good family man. He loved his family and was a proud dad and grandpa. Later in his life, he accepted the Lord into his life, and now he waits in Heaven for them to join him.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jean. Together they shared sixty-eight years.

Also surviving is a daughter, Janny Kay Smith; two granddaughters, Veronica (Doug) McIntosh and Tara (Tony) McDonald; and two great-grandchildren, Michael (Eve) McIntosh and Mikalia McIntosh. Frank is also survived by one sister, Thelma Watson; and a brother, Harvey Everhart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Donna, Norma Jean and Judy; and two brothers, Dewey and Dwight.

Frank’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield, with Pastor Jeremy Griffith officiating. Following the service, Frank will be laid to rest in the Greenfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
