A two-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in a driveway in Highland County’s Salem Township at 2169 S.R. 131 around 3 p.m. Friday.

The Highland County 911 Center received a call from the residence at 3:03 p.m. Friday requesting a life squad and officers to come to the scene.

“Deputies from the Highland County Sheriff’s Office responded along with Lynchburg Fire and EMS and Highland County EMA,” said Deputy Chief Brandon Stratton of the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. “UC Air Care was called to the scene and flew the 2-year-old to Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.”

“The patient was alert and conscious the entire time,” said Stratton.

Stratton did not immediately have information about the driver of the vehicle, but he said no charges have been filed as the incident was determined to be an accident. “It was unknown that the child was in the driveway when she was backed over,” said Stratton.
