Razor-thin margins marked races for two Hillsboro city races, with just four votes separating the candidates for city treasurer and two votes between the candidates for Hillsboro City Council’s 2nd Ward.

In unofficial results Tuesday, Democrat Patricia Burns was leading Republican Amy Robinson, 589-585. In council’s 2nd Ward, Republican incumbent Claudia Klein held a 2-vote margin over Democrat Jason Burns, 136-134.

In the at-large council race with three to be elected, incumbent Republican Justin Harsha led the pack with 874 votes, followed by Democratic candidate Brandon Leeth with 644 votes, and incumbent Republican Ann Morris with 543 votes. Incumbent Republican Tracy Aranyos was out of the running, trailing Morris by just 13 votes at 530 tallies.

In the 1st Ward, Republican Adam Wilkin defeated Democrat Robert Smith, 163-118.

In the 3rd Ward, Republican Wendy Culbreath defeated Democrat Tim Countryman, 119-88.

In the 4th Ward, Democrat Mary Stanforth defeated Republican Jason Grove, 279-132.

But still outstanding were 37 provisional ballots from around the county that could tip races, depending on where they were cast. Those provisionals will be considered on Nov. 21, election officials said.
