Less than 24 hours after an alleged armed robbery Tuesday night at Larry’s Party Shop, the Hillsboro Police Department said it had made three arrests in connection with the incident.

In custody Wednesday evening were Faith M. Scott, 19, of Hillsboro, along with two male juveniles, ages 17 and 16.

The 17-year-old, who HPD Sgt. Shawn Kelley said is the one that allegedly committed the robbery, is being charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery and fifth-degree felony theft.

Scott and the 16-year-old juvenile are being charged with first-degree felony complicity and misdemeanor receiving stolen property.

Kelley said Scott was awaiting transfer Wednesday evening from the police department to the Highland County Justice Center. He said the juveniles were being transported to a juvenile detention center in Chillicothe.

Earlier in the day the police department issued a news release that said that at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday a male subject walked into Larry’s Party Shop, located at 113 Muntz St., brandished a weapon and demanded cash from the register. The subject then fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.

Shane Wilkin, owner of the store, said that someone entered the store, pointed a gun at his employees, and told them to give him money. Wilkin said he was offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).

Hillsboro Police Chief Darrin Goudy said Wednesday that the subject fled the store on foot. He said the suspect was wearing a black jacket with a black hood and a white mask, but a further description was not possible due to how the suspect was dressed.

“He was covered from head to toe,” Goudy said.

Later, Kelley said the 17-year-old male walked to the store from an unspecified location, robbed the store, then returned to the location he came from.

He said it was too early in the investigation to reveal how Scott and the 16-year-old were involved in the incident.

But he did say that the police department developed some leads and executed search warrants at two different homes. He said that most of the money along with property involved in the robbery – clothing, handgun, mask, etc. – were recovered.

No Larry’s Party Shop employees were injured during the incident, the police department said.

After evidence was collected at the scene, Kelley said it was a combined effort from many people that led to the arrests.

“We had some leads, the community was great, the day shift officers followed up on some leads this morning, and Shane Wilkin was able to get the word out there on Facebook,” Kelley said. “We just started getting some good leads and the leads we got panned out.”

Anyone with further information regarding the robbery is asked to contact the police department at 937-393-3411.
